Short visit of the French capital

0

I have been to Paris this weekend to get a new camera lens. I should have seen a friend at the same occasion if he had watch at his message. It was a simple visit of the city under and perfect sunshine!

Some new places among the common ones

I had meeting on Sunday at 12 o’clock at the Invalides metro station, that let me some hours to go and visit Paris in the morning when locals and tourists were sleeping. I went to Royal Palace to see it’s famous columns, I didn’t know that it is located right over the Sully Palace of the Louvre! Just on the other side of the road!

I walked on the Parisian axis, from Louvre to the Arch of Triumph. The Tuilleries gardens had its main gate close because of the final step of the Tour de France. I walked along all the Champs Elysée trying to survive the crowd, tourists came from everywhere but I must say that English were the most. There were a group of Slovakians holding huge Slovakian flags, Russian posing for photos as Russians and Spanish talking Spanish.

I returned to the train station very early and discover that I had almost two hours to spend somehow before my next train, so I decide to look what can be nice to see around the station. The Gare du Nord isn’t situated in a fancy disctrict and pretty everything looks boring, but I have been surprised by the station building itself. I always take my trains there but I never left the building without using the metro, the facade is tall and counts many statues. But contrary to other Parisian stations, the Gare du Nord has no square in front the main entrance, it is totally surrounded by streets…

I was walking to the north, passing by countless cheap shops which sell almost everything when the roof of the Basilica show up! Montmartre is only 15min walk from my station! Why I was using the metro before? As always this main attraction attracted million of photographs and souvenirs sellers. Somehow I haven’t bought anything, and return to the train station, dying because of the sun and use a fountain to fill my bottle.

Playing with my new 50mm

When I received the new lens I started to shoot everything around, statues, bridge and people. I can say that the first contact wasn’t successful and nearly all photos I made were bad. Of course some were quite okay like the following statue from the bridge Alexander III.
