Going back from France I had two days in Vilnius. Much rain during the night and some good reminding from my short living in Lithuania.
Rain and purple sky
I missed going to Vilnius but I didn’t miss the rain that usually occurs. For my first night I wanted to make photos of the city and its main attraction that is the cathedral. I chose to make my photos in black and white because I couldn’t see the colours anyway.
When the night arrived I expected to make awesome pics of the traffic passing in front of Cathedral. My result were not so good, the wind shaking my instalation. I later hide myself under the building roof from the rain. I managed to take there few images of the Belfry and details of the Cathedral.
Meeting the locals
After my hostel night I took the bus to the northern district of Vilnius have lunch with Ona who I haven’t seen for some time. At the bus station I was given a bottle of water, as for all people getting in or out of the bus. I suppose it was from some campaign of prevention as today was hot. After lunch and talk and on my way back to the city centre I stopped at the largest shooing centre of the Baltic, Akropolis Vilnius. Yet I didn’t purchase anything.
I met Dima, a second Lithuanian beer lover. He brought me to one of his favourite pub in the old town behind the Franciscan church. I had the chance to try a tasteful beer from a little brewery.
When Dima’s girlfriend joined us she surprised me by bringing me a large portion of Lithuanian cheese, not Dzuigas but something very fine 🙂
When they left me I decided to take a small walk along the Neris river, get into my hostel to take a shower and then my bag in order to go to the coach station and sleep nicely in the bus.
I hope the next time I will visit Vilnius it will be covered with snow! 🙂
