Nostalgia in Estonia

I prepared for my parents a short trip in the Baltic, our first stop will be in my lovely city, the northern capital: Tallinn! It was the first time I came back here after 5 months… Nostalgy…

The trip

Arrival in Estonia

We came in Tallinn at 6:30 in the morning. The sky was really grey but not so cold in comparaison with Vilnius lately. Streets were still wet from a previous rain and I needed some time before remembering the way to city center with the tramway we had to took from autobusijam.

Reval

On the same way , once in the city I should find a café which could be open quite early. Hopefully our hotel (Braavo and its sympatic receiptionist) find one of the best, the Reval Café. Remember that Reval was the last name of Tallinn, so you can easily imagine that it is located in the old town.

Free tour offered by me

After a warm coffe we were ready to visit the city under a mercyful sky. The tour started by the highest part of the city (where Toompea is) and its perfect overview on the low-town. Later we tried my favorite place for eating, the so-called Kompressor, the restaurant serve huge pancakes that everybody should try once in his life! Then, when we finished the tour, I let my family in the hotel to take rest.

Thereby I went to Linnahall and Rottermann district, which start to make me feel sad about not leaving there anymore.. That’s the life. But I enjoyed the view from this giant structure.

Why the christmas tree was too high

According to Estonians friends and news website, the too big christmas tree of Tallinn, in the middle of Raekoja Plats, fall down two times. The 25 and 28 november 2011. I was lucky to see it stand like a boss the week before.
