Museum night and Tallinn beach

0

No more trips lately but my life in Tallinn got a little more exciting this weekend. Cultural night in museum when it was raining, following by an afternoon on the beach when it was still raining.

Open museum night in Estonia

Student life became a little more calm and I have time for myself more than usual. This last week was very quite and the weather didn’t motivate me to go outside but my room-mate informed me about a national event that could make me want to see the real world. This night was the museum evening where all the public museums were open and free between 8pm and 12pm! Living in Tallinn for more than a year haven’t make me visit many of them, basically expect KUMU…

So I prepared my bag and got ready for a long evening in the center to find those place I have somehow heard about before. Under a little rain I have look at the Occupation Museum, then the City Museum and Maritime Museum before finishing with the nice Architecture Museum.

I won’t compare these museums with their equivalent in the rest of the Baltic, but I can say they have the Estonian size: smaller than what I have seen in Riga or Vilnius. I pretty like the Architecture one with all its models of famous Estonian buildings, and the Linnamuuseum with the original Old Thomas! The Maritime museum isn’t interesting to me but I enjoyed the view provided by the outside terrace.

Before this tour I went to Viru Keskus where photos from ESN Photo Competition are exposed, two of mine are staying on the wall and looked better than on computer!

I finished my evening with cookies and Georgian water walking and eating in the old town. When the rain came I left with the trolley.

Pirita beach

The day after I chose to see Pirita without snow. I haven’t been there for a while and never walked in the sea because it always have been told cold for me. This day I managed to walk a very long distance in the water, sea isn’t deep there and you can go far from the beach and still have the water under your knees.

It was a strange day anyway. We had a blue and warm sky but also heavy clouds time to time. One showed up just after I arrived and made a strong rain. People got crazy and ran everywhere to get protected. For me it was already too late and I was wet before have had the time to put my shoes back.
