Ice and sun in Tartu

My work prevents me to go abroad so I appreciate a lot when I see an opportunity to leave Tallinn to be in a different neighbourhood. From Tallinn we see spring coming little by little as we do not have today snow anymore.

First time not at « home » this year

For two days I have been in Tartu, the timing was perfect as the clouds finally left Estonia for Latvia and allowing me to see for once the blue sky that is usually over me. I took a train from Tallinn to join my friend in Tartu. In contrary to France you can just step in the train buy directly to the controller your ticket. Doing in having a fine.

We have met at the train station before going to get waffles, wine and Asian food for a movie evening at home.

Some snow, some fun

Sunday continued with a clear sky and bright ground. In Tartu and in the countryside the snow hasn’t melt as fast as in Tallinn. I appreciated it as I couldn’t enjoy it enough in the capital. In the morning I walked to the Dom’s ruins and park. Up the hill was windy. There were many children on sledges with their parents walking around and I could go to the ruins for taking some photos.

Laura met me there and we went down the hill to Raekoja plats and Tartu University. It was difficult to not freeze and commonly chose to have a coffee in a café on the main square. Later we walked by the river and in the thick snow before walking back to her car. Day was short and I still had a train to take to Tallinn.
