Our last day free day in France I wanted to show the two most typical castles if Paris region I know. The royal and luxury Versailles palace and the more military Vincennes castle.
Versailles and its awesome French gardens
One of the Weronika’s main sightsee in Paris was the Palace if the Sun King, but it take time to go and I also wanted to visit it again. So I proposed her to go by car for our last day in France. I assume perfectly that I got lost on the way but it didn’t annoyed us. The weather forecast said that we should expect an rain over the city but once on site we noticed once again that it was wrong. We had a crazy sun and I regretted to not have took my sunglasses with me and to weaned a jeans…
The most difficult task we had was to find a cheap parking lot, turning in the city wasn’t really helpful because all I found were incredibly expensive, even the large parking in front of the castle was even more: three hours costing 9euros! In a last attempt I found a place in XX street which was totally free for August and only two minutes walking from the castle 🙂
The castle itself was closed but not the gardens, so we had a long visit of it. Bad point concerned the fountains, all were not working! What a pity… A funny thing we saw was the cost a little train’s ticket for navigating between the Grand Canal and the Trianon’s Palace. It cost nearly four euros one way, by walk it take five minutes… Do your maths. After leaving the park we made a tour in Versailles and I let Weronika to lead me in the town. We went to the tourism office and got a map, then bought postcards (which can be found in the only office of the city…) and took food in a supermarket. We have seen thanks to her orientation skills the two churches, and the market square of Versailles which had four buildings in its corners
Vincennes fortress very close to Paris
After Versailles and before going back to home I used the peripheral to Vincennes, city in the suburbs of Paris on the opposite side of the last capital. If I didn’t know anything about Vincennes I knew that the city has a particular castle with a create dungeon. We were really happy to see and walk around it, this castle being a symbol of a particular period of France and having a unique look! This concluded our week and Weronila’s French trip 🙂
